Baratunde Thurston: Stories from the Revisionist Future

  • INFORUM at the Commonwealth Club 110 The Embarcadero San Francisco, CA, 94105 United States (map)

Baratunde Thurston, Comedian, Author

Baratunde Thurston previews his one-hour comedy show in which he tells the intertwined stories of himself, the Internet and America.

His mother was an activist, lover of organic foods and a computer programmer. He was raised in Washington, D.C. before rich white people returned to reclaim the land. He’s been online since 1993, and now, at 40 years old, he’s ready to explain how it's all connected. Join Thurston as he takes you on a journey into a techno-fabulous future informed by our sometimes terrible past.

Thurston is an Emmy-nominated television host who has worked for The Onion, produced for “The Daily Show,” advised the Obama White House and cleaned bathrooms to pay for his Harvard education. He co-founded Cultivated Wit and the “About Race” podcast and wrote How To Be Black, a New York Times best seller. He serves on the boards of BUILD and the Brooklyn Public Library.

Please note: As this is a preview show, Thurston respectfully requests you don't record audio/video or give away the jokes outside of the show unless it's to a grand jury (in which case, be entirely forthcoming). Still photography is allowed and encouraged—but not the kind with violently bright flashes because that's just rude.

Time: Check-in, 5:30 pm, Program 6:30-8:00 pm

All ticket sales are final and nonrefundable.
